Brigit van Brenk

Due to growing use, wastewater increasingly contains traces of medicines and pesticides. Brigit has come up with a way to break down these substances naturally!

The increase of medication residue and toxic substances in wastewater is dangerous, because our water purification systems are not able to break down all these substances completely. Wastewater thus comes into contact with the surface and ground water that we drink. Besides, the waste that is filtered out is currently deposited in nature, which is not particularly sustainable. Brigit has developed a way of breaking down the toxic substances in an environmentally friendly and affordable way, an idea she copied from… nature! Because Birgit plans to have the waste mopped up by a superrrr mushroom.

If Birgit wins the Changemaker Challenge, she will use the € 3000.-  euros to develop a prototype.
